Basketball Recap: Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles vs. Benbrook Bobcats

After flying high against the Carter-Riverside Eagles last Friday, the Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles came back down to earth. Diamond Hill-Jarvis took a hard 63-49 fall against the Bobcats on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Diamond Hill-Jarvis of the 55-37 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Despite the loss, Diamond Hill-Jarvis saw an underclassman step up: Anthony Elizondo scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Elizondo hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Hernandez, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They are 1-3 when they can't control their own glass like that.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 16 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. As for Benbrook, their win bumped their record up to 11-16.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dunbar presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Eagles in Texas (the Wildcats are ranked 370th, while the Eagles are ranked 1361st). As for Benbrook, they will head out on the road to challenge the at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Young Men's Leadership Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
