Baseball Game Preview: Beaver River Beavers vs. West Canada Valley Nighthawks

The Beaver River Beavers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the West Canada Valley Nighthawks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. West Canada Valley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Beaver River, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Beaver River had just enough and edged out South Lewis 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Beavers have posted against the Falcons since May 21, 2021.

Carter Rice was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rice was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ayshur Gerow was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, West Canada Valley fell victim to Little Falls and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Mounties. The Nighthawks haven't had much luck with the Mounties recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

West Canada Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Zaino, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
