Basketball Recap: Richland Northeast Comes Up Short

Richland Northeast saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 50-38 to the Northside Christian Academy Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Crusaders are ranked 29th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northside Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Evie Godfrey, who posted 19 points and seven steals. The match was Godfrey's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Chaelyn Tifre was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 15 boards.

Richland Northeast has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Northside Christian Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.

Richland Northeast will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lancaster at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Northside Christian Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 46-22 victory against Saluda on the 23rd.
