Baseball Game Preview: Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights vs. St. Thomas More Sabers

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights will head out on the road to take on the St. Thomas More Sabers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Argenta-Oreana, sneaking past 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Bombers: they've now won three in a row.

Marcus Otto was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond is undefeated when Otto posts two or more runs, but 3-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maxton Boddy, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times St. Thomas More and Olympia had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Sabers skirted past the Spartans 9-7.

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond now has a winning record of 10-9. As for St. Thomas More, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14.

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from St. Thomas More when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
