Baseball Recap: James F. Byrnes' Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Southside Christian last Monday, James F. Byrnes came back down to earth. The James F. Byrnes Rebels took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartanburg Vikings on Tuesday. The matchup marked the Rebels' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Jaxson Camp made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Bubba Gowan also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

James F. Byrnes' loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Spartanburg, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

While James F. Byrnes had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
