Softball Recap: Freeport Pretzels vs. Jefferson J-Hawks
Freeport put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 17-7 margin over the Jefferson J-Hawks. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Freeport considering their one-run performance the match before.
Kailen Pro was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in the last three games she's played. Quinn Krzeminski was another key contributor, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and a double.
On Jefferson's side, Jaylin Tripp made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Danika Lamb, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Even though they lost, Jefferson didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with ten strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freeport only tossed four.
Freeport's win bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Jefferson, they dropped their record down to 6-13 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Freeport will take on Guilford at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Guilford will be hoping to continue their five-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Jefferson, they will head out on the road to challenge Belvidere at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
