Hesperia is 2-8 against Serrano since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Hesperia will head out to challenge Serrano at 3:15 p.m. Hesperia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Hesperia's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Indio. Considering the Scorpions have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Brenden Ozaki looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tristen Vanpool, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Hunter Mayer was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.
Hesperia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .525. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Serrano fell victim to Burroughs and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 18-0 to the Burros. The Diamondbacks just can't catch a break and have now endured six defeats in a row.
Serrano saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Bannon, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Hesperia's record is now 9-5. As for Serrano, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Serrano's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hesperia hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. It's a different story for Serrano, though, as they've only averaged .190. Will they be able to contain Hesperia's hitters?
Hesperia took their victory against Serrano in their previous meeting on March 14th by a conclusive 13-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hesperia since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
