Softball Game Preview: Nokomis Redskins vs. Shelbyville Rams

The Nokomis Redskins will venture away from home to face off against the Shelbyville Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Nokomis is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Nokomis came up short against Sangamon Valley/Tri-City on Tuesday, falling 10-4.

Ella Huelson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Maddison DeWerff, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Shelbyville fell victim to Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 17-0 to the Knights.

Shelbyville dropped their record down to 1-2 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Nokomis, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Nokomis took their win against Shelbyville in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redskins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
