On Monday, Liberty Baptist earned a 58-46 win over Varsity Opponent.
Liberty Baptist's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caden Marshall, who posted 20 points. Marshall's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Burkholder, who put up 13 points.
Meanwhile, KIPP San Jose Collegiate was fully in charge on Thursday, breezing past Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit 69-29. The Wolfpack have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.
Liberty Baptist better keep an eye on Christian Ademe-Johnson. He was instrumental in KIPP San Jose Collegiate's win, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards. Ademe-Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Mendoza, who had 11 points and eight steals.
KIPP San Jose Collegiate smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.
The win made it two in a row for KIPP San Jose Collegiate and bumps their season record up to 6-8. As for Liberty Baptist, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Tuesday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Marshall and Ademe-Johnson. Marshall has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 16.5 points. For his part, Ademe-Johnson has averaged 15.8 points, 3.4 steals, and 11.1 boards.
Liberty Baptist took a serious blow against KIPP San Jose Collegiate when the teams last played back in February of 2018, falling 81-33. Can Liberty Baptist avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
