Basketball Recap: Apache Junction Comes Up Short

Apache Junction lost against Gilbert Christian back in January of 2015 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Apache Junction Prospectors were beaten by the Gilbert Christian Knights 70-19. While losing is never fun, the Prospectors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Knights are ranked 86th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gilbert Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tylee Fox, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaila Aston, who went 6 of 11 en route to 13 points and six rebounds.

Apache Junction's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Gilbert Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Apache Junction won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Globe at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Apache Junction is facing Globe at the right time seeing as Globe is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Gilbert Christian, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge ALA - Ironwood at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
