Volleyball Recap: Mountain Crest Mustangs vs. Provo Bulldogs
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mountain Crest can now relate to. They fell 3-1 to the Provo Bulldogs on Saturday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2017.
Mountain Crest was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Provo work for it, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 24-26, 32-30, 25-22.
Despite the loss, Mountain Crest had strong showings from Addley Corbett, who had 14 digs and four aces, and Ella Malm, who had 19 digs.
Even though they lost, Mountain Crest was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Provo only served eight.
Among those leading the charge was Rosabelle Campos, who had 17 digs.
Mountain Crest has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-17 record this season. As for Provo, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-13.
Mountain Crest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Provo, they will challenge Crimson Cliffs at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Crimson Cliffs will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Provo surely won't give up without a fight.
