Volleyball Game Preview: North Mecklenburg Vikings vs. Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls

The North Mecklenburg Vikings will face off against the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Mecklenburg is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

North Mecklenburg's tournament run continued when they took on Independence on Wednesday. The Vikings walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Patriots.

North Mecklenburg had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-14.

North Mecklenburg's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Alejandra Lorenzana, who had seven digs and six assists, and Azara Warris, who had four aces and three digs. That's the most aces Warris has posted since back in September.

They weren't the only good servers: North Mecklenburg was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 29 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hickory Ridge walked away with it. They blew past the Pirates 3-0 on Saturday. The Ragin' Bulls have beaten the Pirates the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pirates has come to flipping the script.

North Mecklenburg's win bumped their record up to 19-5. As for Hickory Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 21-7.
