Basketball Recap: Okeechobee Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Okeechobee had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-9 to make it eight. They were dealt an 84-40 defeat at the hands of the South Fork Bulldogs. The Brahmans lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 47-38 score last time.

Despite the loss, Okeechobee saw an underclassman step up: freshman Juan Rosales posted 23 points and four steals. That was a full 57.5% of the Brahmans' points, marking the fourth time in a row Rosales has had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dakota Donnelly, who scored eight points and eight boards.

As for South Fork, their record now sits at 7-3. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

South Fork's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Kelley, who went 5-for-10 en route to 14 points and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Nino Ropiza, who put up ten points and seven steals.

Okeechobee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 44-41 victory against Clewiston on the 18th. South Fork will take on Central in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Cobras' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61.67 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
