Baseball Recap: Lamesa Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

With a playoff win on the line, Lamesa rose to the challenge on Friday. They never let the Alpine Bucks get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Tornadoes sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Jonah Muniz was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lamesa is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-10 otherwise. Muniz was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaak Flores, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hector Zamora, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Lamesa now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Alpine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lamesa beat the Bucks by a score of 6-2 on Saturday.
