Basketball Game Preview: Lake Dallas Falcons vs. Van Alstyne Panthers

The Lake Dallas Falcons will square off against the Van Alstyne Panthers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Lake Dallas' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.

If Lake Dallas beats Van Alstyne with 55 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Lake Dallas enjoyed a cozy 55-41 win over Celina on Friday.

It was another big night for Maizen Gillam, who went 7 for 15 en route to 23 points and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Lake Dallas' points. Presley Scott was another key player, putting up ten points along with eight boards and seven assists.

Meanwhile, Van Alstyne had to suffer through a 77-39 loss at the hands of Panther Creek. While losing is never fun, Van Alstyne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while Panther Creek is ranked 80th).

Lake Dallas has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 19-10 record this season. As for Van Alstyne, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-19 record this season.

Lake Dallas barely slipped by Van Alstyne in their previous matchup back in January, winning 42-41. Does Lake Dallas have another victory up their sleeve, or will Van Alstyne turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
