Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Summertown's Fifth in Last Six Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lawrence County, Summertown was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Brooks Lions a 10-0 shutout. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Keegan McCafferty was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, Summertown got a massive performance out of Quint Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Cason Blackwood, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Summertown lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Summertown is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Brooks, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-18.

Looking ahead, Summertown will welcome Spring Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brooks, they will take on Lawrence County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
