Elbert extended the longest winning streak in A-8 East - Black Forest (8 Man) this week by beating Genoa-Hugo/Karval, 62-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Simla was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Cubs triumphed over Pikes Peak Christian 46-18.
Kiowa's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Steven Mizak threw for 85 and two touchdowns and Jack Thomas had 49 yards receiving. On the ground Joe Jantz chipped in 142 yards. Lonny Trehal helped Kiowa's passing attack out by catching two balls for 15 yards.
Tyler Hendricks made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Pirates lost to Elbert. The senior forced one fumble and recorded one fumble.
On the ground, the Indians' Jantz has rushed for 568 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Isaac Janes. The Kiowa star has 16 catches for 213 yards.
The marquee game in A-8 East - Black Forest (8 Man) this week will be the clash between Kiowa and Shawn Graves's team. Mark Clemmons's team comes into the matchup ranked 13th in the state, while the Bulldogs ranks fifth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Indians take on Elbert. Kiowa has allowed 50 points this season, while the Bulldogs have given up 32. The Indians allowed 16 points last week as they bested Miami-Yoder.
