Softball Game Preview: Van Vleck Leopards vs. Orangefield Bobcats

The Van Vleck Leopards will face off against the Orangefield Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Van Vleck comes in on three and Orangefield on 21.

Van Vleck is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Trinity get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The Leopards might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Lakyn Matchett's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aamry Gutierrez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole Ryman, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.

Van Vleck hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Orangefield posted their closest victory since March 1st on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past Pollok Central 2-1.

Van Vleck's win bumped their record up to 17-5-2. As for Orangefield, their victory bumped their record up to 31-4.
