Softball Recap: Nelsonville-York Find Success

Nelsonville-York proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Millersport Lakers.

Lilly Gura spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Nelsonville-York saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emmie Fowler, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Nelsonville-York's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Millersport, they moved to 11-3 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Nelsonville-York beat the Lakers by a score of 16-11 later that day.
