Football Game Preview: St. Francis Spartans vs. King Jaguars + How To Watch

The St. Francis Spartans will take on the King Jaguars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Francis has given up an average of 29.5 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Francis is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They skirted past Prairie Ridge 41-38. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Spartans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Wolves are ranked 72nd).

Brock Phillip produced another solid effort rushing for 57 yards and four touchdowns, while also throwing for 158 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 90% of his passes. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. St. Francis also got a significant boost from Tivias Caldwell, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 115 yards.

Meanwhile, King didn't have too much trouble with Corliss on Saturday as they won 21-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

King found their leader in sophomore Jamar Lewis, who rushed for 177 yards and two scores on only 14 carries. Lewis has become a key player for the Jaguars: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: King was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 304 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

King's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for St. Francis, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
