Football Recap: Maple Valley Takes a Loss

Maple Valley had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it six. They had to suffer through a 36-7 loss at the hands of the Union City Chargers. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 48-0 to the Chargers when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Union City, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 26.0 points this season.

Union City found their leader in sophomore Braxton Miller, who rushed for nine yards and two TDs, and also threw for 46 yards and one touchdown.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Maple Valley will face off against rival Reading at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Union City is set to square off against their familiar foe Sand Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
