Softball Game Preview: Ryan Raiders vs. Irving Tigers

The Ryan Raiders will face off against the Irving Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Irving took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Ryan, who comes in off a win.

Ryan gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Denton by a score of 6-1. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won five in a row.

Olivia Buettner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Jamyla Anderson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Kamryn McClendon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Irving's offense. They came up short against Grapevine on Tuesday, falling 7-0. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost three in a row.

Ryan's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Irving, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12-1.
