Basketball Recap: Jabari Boahen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Crossroad Academy over Marianna

Crossroad Academy lost against Marianna back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Crossroad Academy Scorpions took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marianna Bulldogs. The Scorpions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Scorpions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jabari Boahen, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Boahen a new career-high in rebounds. Tyrek Jessie was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Mason Mobley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Marianna, almost dropping a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mobley has scored at least a third of Marianna's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rj Mayes, who posted 15 points and five boards.

Crossroad Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Marianna, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

Crossroad Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-37 victory against Gadsden County on the 1st. As for Marianna, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 89-65 win against Cottondale on the 30th.
