Baseball Game Preview: Branham Bruins vs. Leigh Longhorns

For the second straight game, Branham will face off against Leigh. The Bruins will be playing in front of their home fans against the Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Branham didn't have quite enough to beat Leigh and fell 4-3.

For Leigh's part, Marcus Glanville spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Glanville has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aiden Phillips was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Justin Jeong was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Leigh pushed their record up to 20-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Branham, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.
