Softball Recap: Sullivan's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Sullivan can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Greencastle Tiger Cubs an 8-0 shutout. Considering the Golden Arrows have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Calli Stearley looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rachel Eslinger was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. Hallie Howard was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Sullivan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greencastle only managed three hits.

Sullivan's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Greencastle, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.

Coming up, Sullivan will be playing at home against Terre Haute North Vigo at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Golden Arrows surely won't give up without a fight. As for Greencastle, they will take on Owen Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tiger Cubs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
