The Evangel Christian Lightning will challenge the Edgewood Academy Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Evangel Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.

Evangel Christian is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 1st on Thursday. They came up short against Hooper Academy, falling 10-2. The Lightning have struggled against the Colts recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Evangel Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracelynn Shackelford, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Edgewood Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Fort Dale Academy back in March and fell 10-9. The loss put an end to the Wildcats' undefeated start to the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Edgewood Academy fell to 2-1. As for Evangel Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.

Evangel Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Edgewood Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2023, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Lightning have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
