If Lockhart was feeling good fresh off their 38-0 takedown of Cedar Creek last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions were beaten by the Hays Hawks 53-22 on Friday. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hawks from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Lockhart lost, don't look at Kaidyn Brite. Despite the final result, he rushed for 186 yards and one touchdown while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Brite really tore up the turf during one magnificent 91-yard run.

Gabriel Peach was his usual excellent self, rushing for 125 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also picking up 62 receiving yards and one TD for Hays. Those 125 rushing yards gave Peach a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tacoma Ames, who gained 212 total yards and a touchdown.

Lockhart's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Hays, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Coincidentally, Lockhart and Hays will both be playing Weiss the next time they take the field. The Hawks will host the Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Lions will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on the 16th.
