Softball Recap: Courtland Cougars vs. Chancellor Chargers

Courtland scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past the Chancellor Chargers 22-2. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Makayla Brooks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). Brooks was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Madison Price looked comfortable as she pitched an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (she also only allowed one walk).

Back at the plate, Maddi Dunavant and Allison Thrift did most of the damage at the plate: Dunavant went 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Thrift went 4-for-5 with five RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Olivia Roudabush, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Courtland now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Chancellor, they haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.

Courtland will look to defend their home field on Thursday against James Monroe at 4:30 p.m. As for Chancellor, they will head out on the road to face off against Caroline at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Caroline's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Chancellor's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
