Baseball Recap: Old Forge Comes Up Short

The matchup between Old Forge and Honesdale on Thursday hardly resembled the 4-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Blue Devils came up short against the Hornets, falling 16-6. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Cam Krushnowski made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Elio Castaldi also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Old Forge's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Honesdale, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5-1.

Old Forge and Honesdale could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Blue Devils (ranked 324th) will meet Dunmore (ranked 146th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Honesdale will take on Lake-Lehman at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (277 vs. 62).
