Preview: Brownsburg Bulldogs vs. Ben Davis Giants

After each having a week off, The Brownsburg Bulldogs and the Ben Davis Giants will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Brownsburg sitting on nine straight victories and Ben Davis on five.

Last Friday, Brownsburg faced Hamilton Southeastern in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Brownsburg came out on top against Hamilton Southeastern by a score of 21-14.

Garrett Sherrell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 194 yards and two touchdowns. Sherrell is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last nine games he's played.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Hamilton Southeastern to a paltry 241 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Brownsburg's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Ariyan Ballance and his two sacks.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Ben Davis' strategy against North Central on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Ben Davis blew North Central out of the water with a 50-3 final score. The result was nothing new for Ben Davis, who have now won six contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Cameron Morrison was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Morrison was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. Alvin Contreras also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Brownsburg's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0. Ben Davis has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in eight of their first nine contests, giving them a 8-1 record.

Everything came up roses for Brownsburg against Ben Davis when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 48-20 win. Will Brownsburg repeat their success, or does Ben Davis have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
