Basketball Game Preview: Simla Cubs vs. Burlington Cougars

Having just played yesterday, the Simla Cubs will jump right back in to play the Burlington Cougars at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Simla is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Hoehne by a score of 48-40. The Cubs haven't had any issues with the Farmers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Burlington didn't have too much trouble with Sargent on Friday as they won 50-33.

Simla better focus on containing Charlotte Goodnow and Kiyarra Williams as the pair were huge in Burlington's win. Goodnow posted 13 points and seven steals, while Williams dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Goodnow a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Bethany Cure, who put up ten points along with five boards and three steals.

Burlington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 23 consecutive games.

Burlington has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. Simla's record is now 20-6.

Simla couldn't quite get it done against Burlington in their previous matchup back in February as they fell 51-41. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Williams, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 20 rebounds.
