Baseball Recap: Evansville Reitz Comes Up Short

Evansville Reitz had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-11 to make it four. They fell 11-6 to the Heritage Hills Patriots. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Winston Howell was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Oliver Gates was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Heritage Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games.

On Heritage Hills' side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Gray, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Andersen Smith, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Coming up, Evansville Reitz will take on Evansville Bosse at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Heritage Hills, they will face off against Forest Park at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
