Piper and Fort Lauderdale are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Piper Bengals will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the Fort Lauderdale Flying L's at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Piper has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Tuesday, Piper didn't have quite enough to beat Pine Crest and fell 5-3.

Piper got a good showing from Jimmy Engle, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Piper saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Kanarek, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Fort Lauderdale fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Coral Glades on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 5-2 to the Jaguars. The Flying L's have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Fort Lauderdale now has a losing record of 1-2-1. As for Piper, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Piper took their win against Fort Lauderdale in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 20-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for Piper since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
