Recap: Providence Hall Patriots vs. Summit Academy Bears
After a string of seven wins, the Providence Hall Patriots's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a hard 54-37 fall against Summit Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Providence Hall of the 41-18 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Paige Krebs, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds. Krebs is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Scott, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Avery Backus continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Summit Academy, scoring 22 points along with eight steals and seven assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which Backus has scored at least a third of Summit Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Audrey Druce, who scored four points along with five steals.
Providence Hall's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6. As for Summit Academy, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5.
Providence Hall will take on Layton Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Summit Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Judge Memorial Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Judge Memorial Catholic is ranked 42nd, while Summit Academy is ranked 63rd).
