Basketball Game Preview: Martinsville Bluestreaks vs. Ramsey Rams

The Martinsville Bluestreaks will head out on the road to face off against the Ramsey Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Martinsville and 12 for Ramsey.

Martinsville is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Grayville on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Martinsville was beaten by Grayville 85-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bluestreaks have suffered since February 12, 2024.

Meanwhile, Ramsey took a blow against Lincolnwood on Tuesday, falling 73-42.

Martinsville will have to keep a close watch on Bladyn McCloskey and Waylon Williams, a pair of players who had a big impact on Ramsey's prior game. McCloskey posted nine points and six rebounds, while Williams put up five points and five boards. McCloskey also grabbed a steal, marking his first of the season.

Martinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Ramsey, their loss dropped their record down to 1-18.

Martinsville was able to grind out a solid victory over Ramsey in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 57-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Martinsville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
