Softball Recap: Galesburg Falls to Orion in First Game of Season

Galesburg unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 14-11 to the Orion Chargers on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Galesburg got a massive performance out of Hannah Barton, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave Barton a new career-high in runs. Ariel Martinez was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Looking ahead, Galesburg will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Abingdon/Avon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Orion, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Knoxville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
