Basketball Recap: Wawasee Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

There's no place like home for Wawasee, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Goshen RedHawks with a sharp 41-19 win on Friday. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.

Wawasee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Couture led the charge by going 6 for 15 on her way to 16 points in addition to four blocks and three steals. That's the most points Couture has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Beer, who posted seven points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Despite the defeat, Goshen had strong showings from Taryn Hill, who had eight points in addition to five boards and three steals, and Sueann Watt, who put up no points and five rebounds.

Wawasee has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Goshen, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Wawasee and Bethany Christian will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wawasee is facing Bethany Christian at the right time seeing as Bethany Christian is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Goshen, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-27 victory against Dowagiac on the 14th.
