Basketball Game Preview: Kenwood Bluebirds vs. Woodlawn Warriors

Kenwood is 1-6 against Woodlawn since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Kenwood Bluebirds will venture away from home to challenge the Woodlawn Warriors at 5:30 p.m. Kenwood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season.

Woodlawn will be up against a hot Kenwood squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Kenwood walked away with a 52-41 win over Dundalk on Wednesday.

Andrew Otuyelu was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 16 en route to 17 points in addition to six boards and five steals. He is becoming a predictor of Kenwood's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is 4-2 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Darryl Giles Jr. was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Woodlawn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 37-36 heartbreaker at the hands of Hereford.

Kenwood's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Woodlawn, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Kenwood strolled past Woodlawn in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 64-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kenwood since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
