Softball Recap: Armstrong Gets the Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Armstrong had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Fox Chapel Foxes.

Armstrong got a massive performance out of Lily Gutherie, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Gutherie has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Anniston Andryka, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Armstrong's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Fox Chapel, they dropped their record down to 7-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Armstrong will challenge Shaler Area at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans will roll in looking for their 19th straight victory, something the River Hawks surely won't give up without a fight. Fox Chapel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
