Recap: El Primero Lobos vs. DCP Alum Rock Lobos
The El Primero Lobos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They fell to DCP Alum Rock 54-48. El Primero was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as DCP Alum Rock apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Lobos players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was JOSH CHAVEZ, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. CHAVEZ has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of KEVIN CHIQUETE, who scored 17 points.
Tony Clarida was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with nine rebounds and four steals for DCP Alum Rock. Clarida is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Isidro Cigarroa Fores was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
El Primero has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for DCP Alum Rock, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7.
El Primero will take on East Palo Alto Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for DCP Alum Rock, they will head out on the road to square off against Mountain View Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Mountain View Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Monday.
