Basketball Recap: Phoenix Academy's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Phoenix Academy waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They strolled past the Surry HomeSchool Runnin' Patriots with points to spare, taking the game 57-43. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 57-34 back in December of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Phoenix Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aleena Qureshi, who went 8 for 19 en route to 20 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. With that strong performance, Qureshi is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Brooklyn Kinsey was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Phoenix Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Phoenix Academy's record is now 7-10. As for Surry HomeSchool, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Phoenix Academy has already played their next matchup (against Community Baptist), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Surry HomeSchool has already played their next contest, a 72-29 defeat against Chatham HomeSchool on the 24th.
