Greece Athena moved up to 129 from 197 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 5 Monroe Division II. A 7-0 win over the Trojans helped the Trojans improve their standing.
Brockport extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Canandaigua Academy, 36-29. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Blue Devils.
Churchville-Chili's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. John Iacucci threw for 189 and one touchdown and James Latona had 108 yards receiving. On the ground Josh Powell chipped in 218 yards. Austen Correia helped Churchville-Chili's passing attack out by catching four balls for 33 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Iacucci and Powell the Saints have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Iacucci leads the league in passing with 716 yards, while Powell has rushed for 641 yards this season. Greece Athena's Ricky Federico leads the league in receiving yards with 221 on 16 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Churchville-Chili takes on Brockport. The Saints are in fifth place, while the Blue Devils are in first place.
There should be lots of points scored when Churchville-Chili and Brockport face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Saints comes in having scored 121 this season, while the Blue Devils have scored 108. Churchville-Chili scored 44 points last week as it beat Honeoye Falls-Lima.
The Saints and the Cougars played the most hotly contested game in Section 5 Monroe Division II this week, with the Saints eventually emerging with a 44-43 victory. Powell caught two passes for 24 yards in the win.
