Baseball Game Preview: Pewaukee Pirates vs. Cedar Grove-Belgium Rockets

Pewaukee is a perfect 3-0 against Cedar Grove-Belgium since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Pirates will host the Rockets at 4:45 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Pewaukee 2.6, Cedar Grove-Belgium 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Pewaukee's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Berlin Eisenhower on Wednesday. The Pirates have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, while Cedar Grove-Belgium put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Howards Grove. The Rockets blew past the Tigers 8-0. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Griffin Knight's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Cedar Grove-Belgium got a massive performance out of Connor Waters, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ira Hilbelink, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Cedar Grove-Belgium has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Pewaukee, their loss dropped their record down to 14-3.

Pewaukee was able to grind out a solid win over Cedar Grove-Belgium in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 8-4. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
