Volleyball Game Preview: Open Door Christian Patriots vs. Central Christian Comets

After both having extra time off, the Open Door Christian Patriots and the Central Christian Comets will shake off the rust and duke it out at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Open Door Christian will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.

Open Door Christian picked up another tournament win on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Western Reserve.

Open Door Christian relied on the efforts of Sammy Comer, who had 12 digs and four aces, and Maggie Gillum, who had 11 digs and four aces. The dominant performance also gave Gillum a new career-high in assists (two). Another player making a difference was Paige Pachinger, who hit 68.8% for 23 kills and 18 digs and one block.

Meanwhile, Central Christian had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Cornerstone Christian 3-0 on Thursday.

The match was exciting from start to finish, as two sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. The final score came out to 25-14, 26-24, 27-25.

Open Door Christian better keep an eye on Sarah Miller. She was instrumental in Central Christian's win, getting nine digs and three aces.

Open Door Christian's record is now 21-4. As for Central Christian, their record now sits at 19-6.

Open Door Christian beat Central Christian 3-1 in their previous meeting on October 4th. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
