Baseball Game Preview: Biggsville West Central Heat vs. Alleman Pioneers

The Biggsville West Central Heat will venture away from home to square off against the Alleman Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Biggsville West Central has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Biggsville West Central came into this matchup off a tough 15-run defeat on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Mercer County by a score of 14-12 on Monday. On the bright side, the 12- run effort marked the Heat's highest-scoring game to date.

Jeremy Ford and Colton Spence stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ford scored a run while going 3-for-5, while Spence went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles. Xander Anderson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Alleman came up short against Moline on Wednesday, falling 14-8.

Anthony Clark was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Cael Kuster was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Biggsville West Central and nudges their season record down to 2-4. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Alleman, they suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 7-3.

Biggsville West Central suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Alleman in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Heat avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
