Football Recap: Evadale Takes a Loss

Evadale lost against West Sabine back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rebels had to suffer through a 56-27 loss at the hands of the Tigers. The Rebels' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Evadale's loss came despite strong showings from Brett Buckner and Gavin Maxfield. Buckner threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns, while Maxfield picked up 142 receiving yards and three scores. Maxfield didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble and made four total tackles. A healthy portion of Buckner's aerial production (84 yards to be exact) also went to Brantley Badger.

Evadale's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for West Sabine, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Evadale will face off against Colmesneil at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Sabine, they will challenge West Hardin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Oilers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.86 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
