Soccer Game Preview: Santa Fe vs. California

The Santa Fe Chiefs will venture away from home to take on the California Condors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Fe will be strutting in after a victory while California will be coming in after a loss.

Santa Fe is headed into the matchup having not lost since December 27 and will look to keep things rolling. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over La Serna on Tuesday. Given the Chiefs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Lancers are ranked 780th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Santa Fe hit La Serna with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Estevan Vargas (2), Jorge Campos, and Ethan Vizcarra.

Meanwhile, California didn't have quite enough to beat El Rancho on Saturday and fell 2-1.

California's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-6-2. As for Santa Fe, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1-5.
