The Peninsula Seahawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Fife Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Peninsula has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Fife will arrive with three straight victories.
Peninsula couldn't beat Timberline on Friday even though they stacked six runs on them in the fourth inning. The Seahawks fell just short of the Blazers by a score of 8-7.
Izzy Michaels was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Miranda, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Fife got the win against Clover Park on Thursday by a conclusive 13-2. Considering the Trojans have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Mallory Geving made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Fife got a massive performance out of Ashlynn Monroe, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, one run, and one RBI. Those two triples gave Monroe a new career-high. Hope Cole was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Fife's record is now 14-6. As for Peninsula, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Peninsula has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .462. However, it's not like Fife struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
