Softball Recap: New Haven Comes Up Short

Memphis hit New Haven with a five-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rockets came up short against the Yellowjackets, falling 10-1. The Rockets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in June of 2023.

New Haven saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jerikah Bowman Class 2026, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Ashlyn Sanchez Class 2027 also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

New Haven dropped their record down to 1-17 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Memphis, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-11.

Looking ahead, New Haven will head out to square off against Algonac at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Memphis does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
