Softball Recap: Scotts Valley Beats Soquel for Their Tenth Straight Victory

Scotts Valley came tearing into Tuesday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Soquel Knights. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.

Taylor Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wilson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracie Delgado, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Scotts Valley pushed their record up to 19-5-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Soquel, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scotts Valley will take on San Lorenzo Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Soquel, they will challenge Harbor at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights are facing the Pirates at the right time seeing as the Pirates are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
